Geography of the Town Kadena


 Kadena town is located in the central part of the Okinawa Main island. It is about 23 kilometers north of Naha city. The town faces the East China Sea.
 The town is flatland; the soil formation consists of calcic coral soil and a layer of Kunigami rocky soil.
The town is 15.04 square kilometers in area. It looks like the shape of a reversed "L" letter lying from north to south. 83 % of the land is for military use; the rest, which is only 2.6 square kilometers, is for residential use.

Access to Kadena
 From Tokyo (Haneda airport) to Naha airport -- 2 hours 45 minutes.
From Osaka (Itami airport) to Naha airport -- 2 hours 5 minutes.
From Naha airport to Kadena town
(By bus)--About 1 hour by the Airport Resort bus # 120. The fare is 820 yen.
(By taxi)--About 1 hour. Jumbo taxi (9 passengers' seats) is also available. The charter fee is about 5000 yen.
(By rental car)--About 1 hour if you take the national route 58.

Climate
 Okinawa prefecture is the only subtropical zone in Japan. The average temperature is 20 degrees centigrade through out the year except the winter season (November to February) Precipitation is high. The average humidity is 77 % through the year. The tropical typhoon season starts in July ends in November.

The nature
 The abundant stream of the Hija river runs though the town. Various animals live and plants grow along the river.
