| ●From Naha Air Port to Kadena |
●Buses
The quickest way to get to Kadena is to take the No. 120 Airport Resort
Bus which stops only at the designated stops of the bus route. It will
arrive at Kadena in approximately 1 hour or less for a fee 820 Yen. Because
this bus runs only once every hour, it is best to check the bus schedule.
Those wishing to take the scenic route to Kadena should take Bus No.
13, 124, or 125. When the bus arrives at Naha Bus Terminal, transfer to
Bus No. 20, 28, or 29. Because the bus stops at each of the bus stops,
the trip will take longer but it is a wonderful opportunity take a look
at life on Okinawa. It will arrive at Kadena in about an hour and a half
for a total fee of 930 yen.
|
|
●Taxis
Take a taxi at the long-distance taxi stop to go to Kadena Cho. These
taxi stops are usually less crowded and more convenient.
For large groups, the jumbo taxi which seats nine is available. Travel time is about 60 minutes for a fare of about 5,000 yen.
|
|
●Rental Cars
If you have a rental reservation, you will be met by the agency's pick-up
service. From downtown Naha, it takes about 60 minutes if you take the
Highway 58. You can also take the Okinawa Expressway from the Naha Interchange
(IC) to Okinawa Minami IC (Okinawa South IC) The toll is 600 yen for a
five-passenger sedan. You will find taking Route 58 is easier, because
Naha IC is about 5 kilometers away from the airport. However, during the
morning and the evening rush hours, the traffic on Route 58 is congested,
so taking the Expressway may be faster.
|
●From Naha Port
|
●Buses
When you come out of the Naha port passenger terminal building, cross
the road and you will find the Naha Kou Mae bus stop (Naha port bus stop)
From Naha Kou Mae, take Bus No. 1, 3 or 5 to Ken Chou Mae bus stop (Prefectural
office bus stop). At Ken Chou Mae bus stop, transfer to Bus No. 20, 28
or 29 to go to Kadena.
If you wish to avoid changing buses, you can walk to Naha Bus Terminal from the Naha Port. It is about 1 kilometer, and takes about 15 minutes. There is a map at the Naha port passengers terminal to show you the way. Do not take buses stopping in front of the passengers terminal--those are tour buses. It takes about 80 minutes and the total bus fare is 930 yen.
|
|
●Taxis
Usually some taxis are waiting outside the passengers terminal when the
ship arrives. If you do not find any, you can call for one. The phone numbers
are listed on the Tourist Information Board at the passengers' terminal.
|
|
● Rental Cars
There is no Tourist Information Center to help you make a car rental
arrangement. Even if you do have a rental reservation, the agency's pick-up
service is not available from the port. So you have to make your own way
to the agency's office. Some rental agencies are near the Naha port within
walking distance. However, only their phone numbers are shown on the Tourist
Information Board at the terminal. There is no map to show you the way
to the closest agency.

| ●Extra Information |
●Buses
There is no train service on Okinawa, so the bus service covers most of the island. It is an important transportation on Okinawa.
There are two major bus routes called Shinai Sen which runs within Naha
city and its selected suburbs only and Shigai Sen which runs in and out
of Naha city. Four bus companies operate in Okinawa, Naha Kotsu, Ryukyu
Bus, Okinawa Bus and Toyo Bus. For the passengers' convenience, these operators
use the same route numbers if their destinations are the same.
When you get on a bus, first, take a numbered ticket from the machine
and pay later. Pay the amount shown on the board above the entrance door.
The numbers indicate the amount that you must pay. Some buses take different
routes. To make sure it stops at your desired destination, ask the bus
driver before you get on. Depending on the route the bus takes, the time
of the ride may differ.
*Advisory
Be reminded to allow extra time if you travel during the morning and evening rush hours, tourist seasons and weekends, and near the popular beaches.
|
|
●Taxis
The small size 4-passenger taxi fee is 450 yen for the first .8 kilometers,
and the medium size taxi (5 passengers seat) fee is 460 yen for the first
1.8 kilometers. Taking a taxi to get around the island is one of the most
convenient ways to travel. You will see lots of them cruising around looking
for passengers.

|
● Rental Cars
There are many rent-a-car agencies on Okinawa, several of them in the
Naha area. During the peak tourist season, make an arrangement in advance,
especially if you have a specific make of car you wish to rent.
There is no drop off charge within the Okinawa Main Island (with a few exceptions). Courtesy pick-up service is available at the Naha airport and at major hotels. If you pay an additional charge, you can pick-up or drop off the car at any major hotel. For more details, contact the agencies. The regular office hours are from 8 am to 8 pm.
*Advisory
On the National Highway Route 58, between downtown Naha to Isa area in
Ginowan city, you will see a lane painted green on the left side. This
is called the bus lane. On the weekdays, only buses and taxis are allowed
to drive on it during the morning rush hour (7 to 9 am) southbound to Naha,
and the evening rush hour (5:30 to 7:30 pm) northbound from Naha. The police
patrol during these hours and be forewarned that you will be ticketed if
you are caught driving on the bus lane.
